We caught up with Toothy this morning to reflect on last night’s fantastic Fa Cup win at Rushall.

"It feels great this morning I'll be honest and the club and everyone involved should be really proud, this is still a side in transition, but we are now six unbeaten after losing our first two games. One of the aims when I sat down with the chairman was to make this season more enjoyable for our supporters and after seeing them and hearing them last night I'd say we are well on the way to ticking that one off the list.
I can’t speak highly enough of the players, I thought they were magnificent from start to finish last night and fully deserve to be in the next round. Rushall are a very good side but we realised after Saturday that they had no Plan B. They stick to the same principles of passing it around and trying to pull you out of your shape for them to capitalise. They do it for the whole game and they are very good at it but to be honest that sort of played right into our hands. The first half on Saturday they battered us make no mistake but after that I think we have been the side looking more likely to score and I don’t think anyone can have any arguments that we didn’t deserve it over the 2 games. We felt they didn’t give us enough credit after Saturdays game and their managers note’s in the programme last night emphasised that when he said they “allowed us back into the game” and that “we battled well “. That put his players firmly in the firing line last night as that was not the case and I know that they will complain about the penalty, but we don’t care we are through and it didn’t matter for us how it happened. We changed it around a little last night and played higher up the park and didn’t allow them to the space to hurt us and when they did get in our defence were immense in cutting out any danger. Yes they had more possession than us and put us under real pressure towards the end of the game but we stood up to it and that is very pleasing. The players took our tactics on board and carried them out to get the win so all in all it was a good night".

The Royals now look forward to the next round with a tie against Alfreton at Coles Lane on 22nd September and in the meantime, it's back to league action with a trip to Yaxley on Saturday 15th.
