An out of sorts Town started the game very poorly and went 3-0 down in the first half before staging a comeback that almost saw them get a share of the spoils.
Sutton struggled to get to grips with both the conditions of a really poor pitch and a Bustlholme team who were clearly fired up and looking to stop Sutton getting into their playing rhythm. The lads must learn that mistakes can be costly and this cost Town dear when they found themselves 3-0 down inside the first half hour. Town pulled one back before half-time to give themselves a glimmer of hope in the second half.
Town began the second half brightly and started to get on top in a niggly game. Town eventually scored a second to get themselves back into the game and should have had a penalty in the dying minutes to level things up; but the referee saw fit to take the decision that he would award a free kick outside the penalty area for the first offence. Bustleholme eventually saw out the game with grit and determination and a not inconsiderable amount of time wasting, all tactics aimed at disrupting Sutton's play.
Town showed some character to get back into the game; but must learn you cannot give teams a 3 goal lead before you decide to start playing.
