Max Wright again bagged the winner for the Royals in a close fought encounter with second placed Spennymoor.
Sutton entertained Spennymoor Town in their continuing search for points to pull out of the relegation places. The afternoon was going to be difficult against a team who would be playing their fourth game in a week having won two and drawn one.
The opening exchanges were very evenly balanced with corners at both ends. If anything Sutton were just having the best of the early chances.
A series of shots on goal from Sutton were finally cleared when the keeper made a diving block. Spennymoor retaliated with a curling shot that hit the outside of the post.
Sutton had an early chance in the second half a corner found Nathaniel Kelly at the far post and a strong downward header was blocked on the line.
In the sixty second minute Max Wright picked up the ball in his own half and run through closely attended by Spennymoor midfielder but he kept the ball under control and beat the advancing keeper.
Sutton saw out the game by containing everything that Spennymoor threw at them. This was an excellent performance and a crucial win in that fellow strugglers Frickley and Corby both lost.
