4 games into Toothy's second spell in charge and the first loss is a 2 goal defeat to Warrington Town

Sutton looked forward to continuing their revival and their fight for survival under new manager Neil Tooth when they entertained high flying Warrington Town at Coles Lane.

Their two emphatic victories and a hard earned draw in their last three games had begun to restore their confidence and football relies so much on confidence. But they were under no illusions that Warrington would be a stern test if they were to continue climbing away from that last position in the league.

The opening 20minutes were evenly matched, with both midfields trying to take control and there were few attempts on goal.

Sutton's best chance so far came when Kyle Hawley flicked the ball over his head and fired goal wards but it was blocked and turned out for a corner which the Warrington defence had trouble in clearing. Sutton were now having their best spell and only a diving block at the feet of Reece Webb prevented them going ahead. Right on half time Warrington broke from a Sutton corner and Tony Gray cut in and left the keeper with no chance.

The second half continued to be a hard fought contest with chances at both ends but it was Warrington who increased their lead when a well taken corner reached the far post and Jack Higgins headed home. Sutton went straight on the attack and James Beresford headed a Sutton corner just over the bar. Sutton worked hard in the last ten minutes but could not break down a resolute Warrington defence.
This was a good advert for Non League football and although Sutton lost, it was against a very good team and they battled to the end. This sought of form will be rewarded as the season reaches the crucial stages.
