Sutton play Peterborough Sports this Saturday against our Southern League rivals Peterborough Sports. Peterborough Sports are based in Peterborough and play at the Bee Arena in Peterborough Sports and Leisure, Lincoln Road. The stadium holds 1500 supporters and they play on a 100m x 64 grass pitch. Their nickname is the Turbines and their home kit is a blue shirt, shorts and socks and away it’s a red shirt, shorts and socks. The goalkeeper wears a green shirt, black shorts and black socks.
Peterborough Sports were first formed as Brotherhoods Engineering Works in 1919 and played in the Northants League initially, they then joined the Peterborough League in 1923. The Club only became Peterborough Sports in 2001, when they changed from their previous name of Bearings Direct.
This is the second time we have met Peterborough this season having lost 2-1 in a FA Trophy cup game previously, a game we should have got something out of with Sutton having the best of the chances that day. This will be different as it is the league and Sutton have been on a good run of form of late, and yes, we had a little blip on Saturday but it was a game we could have and should have won.
Let’s hope the lads are not to disheartened by a low-key performance on Saturday and can get back to winning ways. The team will be a similar one to that who played on Saturday, but will be without Smith who had a red card last time out.
The Royals still believe, please come along and show your support. May I take this opportunity to welcome our Danish football (Official Danish National Betting League of 1992) fan guests who have come over on a visit to see some non-league football and sponsored the game. Hope we can put on a performance for you guys and may your visit and stay with us be a pleasurable one.
