This Saturday is our return game against Berkhamsted. They are based in Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire, and were formed in 2009 after Berkhamsted Town ceased to exist.
The name was taken from a club which had played in the Herts County League in the early 1900’s, and their nickname is The Comrades. Berkhamsted play at Broadwater, on Lower Kings Road; a ground which is positioned between the Grand Union Canal and the West Coast Main Line. The ground has a seated stand on one side of the pitch, with an uncovered terrace next to it. There is also covered terracing behind both goals. The stadium holds 1500 supporters, and the pitch is grass and measures 100 x 64m.
The Berkhamsted home kit is a blue and gold shirt, blue shorts and blue socks, and their away kit is a black and white shirt, black shorts and black socks.
In our last meeting at home, Sutton drew 1-1 with Berkhamsted in what turned out to be a scrappy game. Sutton will be reeling their loss last Saturday with their unbeaten run coming to an end. They now have to look forward, and Berkhamsted will be a tough test having only lost once in the last six games. On reflection, they have had four draws in recent games, so Sutton will have to be on their A game to produce a victory against this dogged and determined Berkhamsted side.
Here’s to an entertaining and successful game.
COME ON YOU ROYALS.
