This Saturday we travel to Barton Rovers for a league fixture in the Evostik South Division 1 Central.
Barton Rovers are a semi-professional club from Barton Le Clay in Bedfordshire and play at the Sharpenhoe Road Stadium on a grass pitch which is 110 yds x 75 yds. The stadium has a capacity of 4,000, of which 160 are seated and 1,120 are covered. All 160 seats are in the main stand, and opposite this there is a covered terrace that runs the length of the pitch. The Club was founded in 1898 and for their first 50 years played village football. This was until World War Two when in 1946 they reformed and became members of the Luton and District League.
Barton Rovers, or ‘The Rovers’ as they are nicknamed, play in a home kit of Royal Blue shirts, Royal Blue shorts and Royal Blue socks; an away kit of Yellow shirts, Black shorts and Yellow socks; and the goalkeeper plays in a Green shirt, Green shorts and Green socks.
Its been a difficult few weeks for Sutton as we have fallen down the table slightly. The playoffs seem to be looking a little too much for us at the moment, mainly due to the many draws we have been having especially at home, with the most recent being last weekend. Today we meet a team just below us in the table in 11th position, the reverse fixture saw us win 1-0 in a tight game back at Coles Lane.
Today’s game will be a tough encounter, not least due to the fact that Barton Rovers have only lost once in their last 11 games which is testament to their players and coaching staff. Sutton need to find a win from somewhere and maybe its away from home we are more likely to do it this season.
Let’s keep the dream alive and get behind the team this weekend.
Here’s to an entertaining and successful game.
COME ON YOU ROYALS.
