On Saturday we welcome our Division 1 opponents Cambridge City FC to the Central Ground, Coles Lane, for the return fixture of our away tie in December 2018 where we won 0-2.
Cambridge City FC were founded in 1908 as Cambridge Town and won several titles and cups in their early years. In 1951 both Cambridge Town and Abbey United applied to change their name to Cambridge City. As Cambridge Town submitted their application and it was received first, the application was accepted and they were given the name; Abbey United then became Cambridge Town.
Sutton are, at the time of writing this, in the play-off positions after a fantastic away win last Saturday against North Leigh. They are on a great run with four wins on the bounce and have hit form at the right time. Cambridge however, are having some unpredictable results of late having lost to bottom strugglers Aylesbury then beating our play-off rivals Coleshill.
Cambridge have won their last two games so are on a small run themselves. Sutton need a victory today, as we have a tough away trip to league leaders Peterborough the following Saturday. It’s six cup finals here on in, and with a real chance of gaining a promotion, your support is vital, as always.
Here’s to an entertaining and successful game.
COME ON YOU ROYALS.
