U21's into Quarter Finals ...

Sutton moved into the Quarter Finals of the Challenge Bowl at the expense of Leicester Football Education Academy.

Sutton started very well and in truth the game should have been wrapped up in the opening 10 minutes with four golden opportunities wasted by the home team. Nathan Lawrence in the Sutton goal was a spectator for the opening 20 minutes as Sutton laid siege to the Leicester goal but couldn't find the breakthrough. Then, completely against the run of play, Leicester went in front with their first meaningful attack of the game!

The goal gave the visitors a lift and they found extra energy that hadn't been seen in the opening exchanges. Sutton responded well though and levelled when Romario Rose curled a free kick round the wall and into the bottom corner. Sutton then went in front when Will West found Kyle Baskeyfield who took a great first touch to pull the ball out of the air before side footing past the keeper. On the stroke of half time, West and Baskeyfield combined again and the latter crossed for Sean Doyle to side foot home from close range. Half time 3-1.

The second half was a quieter affair with Sutton generally in control. Rose made the game safe with his 2nd goal of the game, rifling home a left foot shot to put Sutton 4-1 in front. Leicester pulled a goal back in the last minute. Final score 4-2.

Next week we return to league duty with an away trip to Droitwich.
