Mark Sanders gets to know the Directors at SCTFC

During the summer each week we will be giving an insight into the Directors at SCTFC who help keep the club running. Mark Sanders kindly prepared a questionnaire for them all to fill out and send back to be shared with all.

This week we meet Director, Vice Chairman, Child Welfare Officer and Press Officer - Kenneth Hawkings .

1 How long have you been associated with Sutton Coldfield Town

26 years

2 How did you become involved with Sutton.

I was Chaplain at Birmingham City and their Reserves played their home games at Coles Lane. When I attended their games I got introduced to the club by Bill Worship and the rest is history.

3 Can you remember your first game? If so, which one was it?

Sorry I cannot remember

4 What is your role at the club?

I am Vice Chairman, Child Welfare Officer and Press Officer

5 What are your typical match day duties?

I prepare the Team sheet and send a report into the Mercury and Non-League Paper

6 Do you support any other league clubs?

Yes Birmingham City the wrong club this side of the city

7 What is the best game you have seen at Sutton, or your best moment?

The second leg of the Southern League Cup Final against Cambridge City who were then in the Premier Division of the Southern League we had drawn away and won the second leg in front of over a 1000 spectators.

8 What is your favourite film?

The Shawshank Redemption

9 What are your hobbies other than football?

Any other sports

10 What are your hopes for the coming season?

That we challenge for promotion and go one better than last season

11 What improvements would you like to see at the ground?

There have been massive improvements over my time none more so than under our present chairman. I would like to see the new floodlights installed.

12 Who has been the best player you have seen over the years?

There have been a few but I would rate Steven Farmer who played in the middle of the defence for a few seasons.

13 Where is the furthest you have travelled to see Sutton?

Workington, Blythe Spartans

14 What made you choose to volunteer with Sutton Coldfield?

Happened by chance

15 What are your aspirations for the upcoming season?

That the club progresses through all its teams and builds a good base.

16 What are your thoughts on last season?

Given the previous relegation I believe that we did well and that Neil Tooth needs to be congratulated on taking a team that was bereft of confidence and getting us into the playoffs

17 How do you relax after the stresses of cheering Sutton?

Going home and having a takeaway

18 Does your family share your interest in Sutton?

No my Grandson and his dad come to games when they are here they live in London.

19 What are your hopes on the field for the coming season

Playoffs/Automatic Promotion

20 How many grounds have you visited with Sutton, and are there any new grounds you will be going to this season?

To many to number but Worksop/Cleethorpes and Glossop will be new this season.
