The Royals look to finally kick off the year this weekend as they travel to 12th place Lincoln City.

Sutton’s start to the new year has had to wait due to the British weather. The Royals have already had a trip to Lincoln cancelled earlier this year due to the freezing weather in the area at the time.

Now Steve Benyon and his side will be eagerly awaiting the return of National League action.

Last time out the Royals suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of local rivals Boldmere which saw the latest addition to the squad Millie Kirk get on the scoresheet for the opposition.

Kirk will also be awaiting the weekend, having been set to make her debut in previous weeks, she will hope to impress and get her Sutton career off to the best start when we travel on Sunday.

Abbie Bailey will also be set to make her debut in a Royal blue shirt, having signed last Sunday. The defender joined us following a spell out in America.

Going into this fixture, Sutton sit in eighth place, hoping to secure three points to start progressing further up the table.

The Imps, however, are in 12th, yet to pick up a point and have scored a total of four goals this season, all of which have come at home thanks to Lexie Butterworth, Gemma Harte, Weronika Kruszyna, and Sofia Rufus.

Last time out however Lincoln found themselves on the wrong end of a 10-1 defeat at the hands of Peterborough United.

The previous meeting between the two sides saw the Royals win 4-0, with Abby Bevan, Lauren Da’Casto and Phoebe Hopwood getting on the scoresheet.

Sutton will hope to replicate this result and will hope to make the 180-mile round trip to kick off 2025.
