A preview into Wednesday’s midweek game against Carlton Town, by Jack Blenkiron:
The Royals travel to the Bill Stokeld Stadium, home of the Millers, on Wednesday night, in an attempt to resurge following Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Spalding United at The Central Ground. Goals from Jackson and Richards provided a deserved win for The Tulips, against a weakened Royals side missing six players, through either injury, bans or international clearance.
An insight on The Millers…
Carlton Town, managed by Tommy Brookbanks, play host to the Royals’ first away game of the season, as Neil Tooth’s men look to gain their first win of the season. The Millers finished 19th in the Northern Premier League in the previous season, narrowly avoiding relegation to the Midland League, at the expense of Gresley. However, Carlton began their season strongly, succeeding 2-0 away at Lincoln United, with goals from Aaron Opoku and Oliver Clarke, despite Danny Elliott’s first half dismissal. Carlton play in a distinctive yellow and blue kit.
The Millers have won the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup three times within the last decade, most recently in 2016/17.
