This Saturday The Royals take on Sheffield FC down at Coles Lane. Following on from the terrific win against Stafford Rangers last weekend in the FA Trophy it’s time to get focus back on the league, something we have not played in much this season due to Suttons continued success in cup competitions.
Sheffield Football Club are originally from Sheffield South Yorkshire, but are now based in Dronfield Derbyshire. Founded in 1857, the club is officially recognized as the oldest club playing football in the world. They are nicknamed the Club, and play in red and black at the Coach and Horses ground.
The last time Sutton played Sheffield was in the 14-15 season where Sutton won 3-0 at home and 3-2 away, a similar score-line would be very acceptable this Saturday.
Sheffield are currently seventh in the league having played 12 games. Sutton lie in 19th having only played seven games, so it’s hard to make comparisons at this stage as they are so behind in games played. Sheffield have lost 3 of their last 4 games including a bad loss to bottom club Market Drayton last time out. Todays game will be a tough one as Sheffield did not play last week as their game was cancelled, so they will be fresh and raring to go and won’t want to lose to two of the bottom clubs in quick succession.
Sutton hope to gain three points this weekend straight after England winning the World cup, Rugby that is!
The lads need as much support as possible so get down to Coles Lane and give them a cheer.
Come on you Royals.
