Today we welcome Lincoln United to Coles Lane for the return match following our 2-1 win away in October last year. Sutton will be on a high following two home wins on the bounce and will be hoping to make it three this Saturday.
Lincoln United are currently members of the Northern Premier League Division One South East and play at Ashby Avenue. The stadium holds 2,714 supporters of which 400 are seated The club was established in 1938 as Lincoln Amateurs, but World War II prevented them from joining a league until 1945, when they became members of the Lincolnshire League. The following season saw them transfer to the Lincoln League, and in 1954 the club were renamed Lincoln United after taking on a paid player, Ray Bean.
Lincoln United play in a home kit of white with red trim, and are nicknamed The Amateurs or the Whites.
Sutton now lie in 12th spot on 32 points whereas Lincoln are below us in 16th on 27 points. A win today would put Sutton in the top 10 for the first time this season and with a real possibility for them to break into the playoffs. It may seem a way off but with games in hand and the momentum at present, anything is possible.
Let’s get a real presence this Saturday and drive the lads on to hopefully get their hat trick of home wins.
Here’s to an entertaining and successful game.
COME ON YOU ROYALS.
