Sutton play their seventh game this Tuesday, and with a win under their belt last week, they are now looking for their first home win of the season against Kidsgrove Athletic.
Kidsgrove Athletic FC are based in Staffordshire and are nicknamed The Grove. They play their home games at Hollinwood Road.
They were formed in 1952 and like Sutton, play in blue and white at home, but at Coles Lane we will see them in their green and white stripes.
Kidsgrove’s most recent achievements include being the Staffordshire Senior Cup winners in 2012, mid Cheshire League cup winners in 1986 and North West Counties league champions in 2001-2002.
Kidsgrove Athletic are currently in third place with a game in hand on Sutton, so Tuesday’s game will be a big test to see how we can match up to one of the division’s top teams. Very much like last Tuesday a win for our competitors will see them go top, but we have proved we can spoil any party and we can compete with the best of them.
Saturday’s game was a disappointing one. To lose in the final minute was a bitter pill to swallow, but the way the lads battled counteracted the disappointment and gave us hope for brighter things to come from this team.
Kidsgrove have had some good form of late winning four of their last five games in the league, so on current form, Kidsgrove would be the odds-on favourites.
Sutton played Kidsgrove last season winning 1-0 on the day, a result like that on Tuesday would go down very well indeed.
Please come along and support the Royals this Tuesday evening as we are collectively the 12th man on the team.
