Sutton are now safe in this league for another season, but will be keen to get a couple more wins under their belts before they hang their boots up for a well-earned rest. Three points from Histon on Saturday will be the perfect way to start.
Histon FC are a Club based in the village of Histon and Impington, Cambridgeshire. They play at the Glassworld Stadium, Bridge Road in Impington. Nicknamed the Stutes, it is the name derived from the Clubs previous name of Histon Institute. Histon’s crest features the Rose, which represents the rose-covered field given to the people of Histon and Impington permanently for sporting activities in the community. It was gifted by local firm Chivers and Sons.
They were formed in 1904 and play in back and red strips, the ground has a capacity of 3,800.
Histon, like Sutton, have had a difficult campaign this season with only 4 wins so far and sit in 18th spot on 21 points. Sutton having won 8 this season and sit in 16th spot and are now safe this season. Histon have a lot riding on this game, as a win keeps them away from the bottom two, but are automatically relegated should they drop lower. Sutton are playing for pride now, and for individual players, a place in the squad next season which will be the first full season that Thorpe will be in charge.
These sides last met earlier in the season and Sutton came away with a point, but they should have taken all three with many missed chances on the day. This Saturday will be an opportunity to put that right. Entrance will be free on Saturday which is another great initiative by the club. Last time they did this, we had over 800 down at Coles Lane. So more of the same please, and let’s provide a cracking atmosphere to spur the lads on.
