Rushall sent the Royals into the new season with a few things to think about before the trip to Rainworth.

Three Sutton mistakes in a mad 10 minute spell ended this final pre season game as a contest by as early as the 24th minute when the Royals found themselves 4-0 down to a ruthless Rushall side.

Assistant manager Neil Tooth spoke after the game about where he feels the team is ahead of the seasons opener at Rainworth. "Fitness wise we are ready but there is still a little tweaking to do shape wise before we go into the Rainworth game. I was disapointed with the goals we conceded at Rushall as for 3 of them we had the ball and were under no real pressure but somehow managed to gift them the 3 goals. Their 4th was a great goal so we can have no complaints with that one but we gave away a stupid free kick in the build up to it and put ourselves under pressure". "At 4-0 down after 25 minutes i must admit I feared the worst but we changed the shape a little and at half time changed some personnel and it was a lot better 2nd half and more of a contest."

"We had 8 new players start the game Saturday and overall we have brought in 12 in the close season so naturally its going to take them time for them to gel and develop as a team on the pitch. They have built up a good atmosphere in the dressing room and we definitely have a real feel good factor back around the club which was missing for most of last season. We know the league is going to be even harder this year but we are confident that we have the ability in our dressing room to improve on last season and hopefully be in the mix come next May. Then again im sure every other team feels the same but overall we are very happy with how our pre season has gone and cant wait for the real thing on Saturday".
