In this top of the table clash it was always going to be fine margins that made the difference with both sides having good possession and opportunities
The first half was end to end with fast and direct play from both teams as they countered each other and it was stalemate at half time with no goals
In the second half on 51 minutes Tiara Hemans fired a low shot in from 20 yards which the Leek keeper failed to gather cleanly and the ball trickled into the net
Immediately afterwards Leek got one back with some poor ball retention by Sutton
The game was always on a knife edge as both teams pushed forward to gain the advantage and on 69 minutes it was Hemans who fired Sutton into the lead with a run through the centre following a superb pass from Sarah Lampitt
Player of the match was Cheyanne Jarvis who worked hard, tracked well and covered when needed
Manager Andy Burman said "Leek are a good side and work extremely hard as a group. We managed to put away our opportunities through a complete team effort with Hayley Chatwin, Sarah Lampitt and Cheyanne Jarvis outstanding. Well done to Leek for making this our toughest contest so far this season"
