In this tense cup semi final both teams were determined to put on a good show and give a good account of themselves in front of a large crowd at Coles Lane
After just 3 minutes, Ruth Graham slotted home after good work down the right hand side by Jodie Mason
Brereton worked well on the counter attack with long balls down the centre and into the channels and both sides stuck to their game plans
The score remained 1-0 at half time
In the second half Sutton made key changes to try and effect the game as it was always close
This paid off on 48 minutes when Cheyanne Jarvis fired in after some fine work in front of goal
Brereton were still in it and had a couple of good opportunities, one was saved by keeper Kerr and the other went wide
The game was secured in the 83rd minute by Asya Osman for Sutton who was making her debut as she placed the ball past the advancing Brereton keeper under pressure
Player of the match was midfielder Sian Wilson who was dominant, linked up well and covered a lot of ground for Sutton
Manager Andy Burman said "This was a closer game than the score suggests and full credit must go to the Brereton players who worked exceptionally hard. Finishing was the difference between the two sides. We wish Brereton well for the remainder of the season"
