In what was a tight game, both sides had opportunities early on but it was Sutton who took the lead after just 2 minutes with a well-worked goal by Niamh Deasy
Hannah Tromans then pulled off a fine save to foil Coundon
Just before half-time a well-worked move down the left saw Player-of-the-Match, Sarah Lampitt score a second for Sutton who were well in control of the game at that point
In the second-half Coundon came back into it with a series of corners which resulted in shots going wide or over the bar
New signing Donna Arrowsmith hit the bar with a strong header following a cross from the right before Coundon struck back on 64 minutes with a low shot into the corner
Sutton created more of the scoring chances and saw the game out
Manager Andy Burman said "Full credit to the players who showed character and determination today. We were carrying injuries and we had three seventeen-year-olds who played ninety minutes and who were a real credit to themselves. We look forward to the League Cup semi final next week at home to Coventry Sphinx"
