In a tightly contested game, honours were even at half-time despite Lichfield dominating play and missing a penalty, which hit the post and was safely gathered by the Royals keeper
On 50 minutes Niamh Deasy scored with a delightful first-time shot from the edge of the box high into the Lichfield net but the home side scored minutes after with a controversial shot which the was alleged to have crossed the line
Lichfield then took the lead in the 66th minute with a header as a result of poor marking
Lichfield dominated large parts of the game but in the last 10 minutes the Royals came alive with a sequence of good goal-scoring opportunities with Sophie Levick hitting home on 79 minutes
Deasy, Levick and Sarah Lampitt all went close in the dying stages of the game
