Topsy-turvy game ends all square

In a tightly contested game, honours were even at half-time despite Lichfield dominating play and missing a penalty, which hit the post and was safely gathered by the Royals keeper

On 50 minutes Niamh Deasy scored with a delightful first-time shot from the edge of the box high into the Lichfield net but the home side scored minutes after with a controversial shot which the was alleged to have crossed the line

Lichfield then took the lead in the 66th minute with a header as a result of poor marking

Lichfield dominated large parts of the game but in the last 10 minutes the Royals came alive with a sequence of good goal-scoring opportunities with Sophie Levick hitting home on 79 minutes

Deasy, Levick and Sarah Lampitt all went close in the dying stages of the game

Player-of-the-Match was Sarah Lampitt for her continuous running, challenging and tackling in midfield

Manager Andy Burman commented "Not one of our better days and things to put right on the training pitch but the girls stuck together to claim a point"
