Late goal denies Sutton victory

Sutton returned to League action with a trip to a Burton side unbeaten in their last 4 games

There were strong appeals for a penalty in the opening-minute when a cross appeared to come off the arm of a Burton defender, however the referee waved play-on

Moments later a long-range effort from Ruth Graham dipped just too late to trouble the Burton goalkeeper

Sutton took the lead in the 20th minute when a free-kick was flicked on to Jordan Atkin, whose finish was clinical

On 27 minutes Brittany Civil was played through but the angle was too wide for her shot to really test the keeper

Just passed the half-hour mark Natasha Rothery hit a shot that flew past the far-post

After 34 minutes a corner was not cleared and the loose-ball was fired straight at the keeper by Brittany Civil

2 minutes later Button had their first real shot when a long-range effort was comfortably held by Lottie McElroy

Chloe Handy had a goal disallowed for offside in the 43rd minute

HT - 1-0

On 52 minutes Annabelle Jones had a looping-shot that dropped not far away from the top-corner of the Burton net

Five minutes later injury forced Chloe Handy off

On the hour-mark Brittany Civil almost found the top-corner with a shot from a wide angle

A through-ball almost found Ameile Dennis in the 67th minute, however a sliding-challenge from a Burton defender forced the ball out of play

Brittany Civil was forced off through injury with 20 minutes remaining

Chloe Finn was the next player to be forced off with an injury 5 minutes later

A free-kick from Natasha Rothery sailed over the bar on 77 minutes

The Burton goalkeeper was alert to a through-ball that almost played Aimee Taylor through on 84 minutes

2 minutes into injury-time the referee awarded what looked an extremely harsh penalty when a Burton player went down in the penalty-area

The penalty was converted to level the game

With the last kick of the game, Ally Forbes hit a powerful strike that flew just past the post

FT - 1-1

Player-of-the-Match was Charlotte Worth who was solid throughout playing against her old club
