Royals go 8 points clear

Sutton moved 8 points clear at the top of the League with victory over second-placed Kidderminster Harriers

The result leaves the Royals needing just 2 points from their remaining 2 League fixtures to be crowned Champions and gain promotion

However Kidderminster almost took the lead after 20 seconds when a strike from wide stung the palms of Sutton goalkeeper Lottie McElroy

6 minutes into the game, a free-kick on the edge of the Sutton penalty-area was struck into the wall and cleared for a throw-in

A header towards goal was comfortably held by McElroy after 18 minutes

Just past the half-hour mark Rameyah Farquharson saw a powerful strike tipped onto the post, with only the Kidderminster goalkeeper’s fingertips preventing Sutton from taking the lead

3 minutes later Chloe Handy hit a strike from distance that was no trouble for the goalkeeper

With 10 minutes left of the half Farquharson was unable to properly connect with a cross, resulting in the ball bouncing harmlessly through to the goalkeeper

Chloe Finn had a shot from distance after 39 minutes, however this was straight at the goalkeeper and held comfortably

A fantastic clearance off the line prevented Sutton from going in front in the 42nd minute, when a header from a corner was acrobatically hooked clear

Handy had an effort from a free-kick that landed on the crossbar as the first-half entered into stoppage-time

The last kick of the half saw Farquharson strike a free-kick straight into the grasp of the goalkeeper

HT - 0-0

A shot from Handy flew inches past the far post 5 minutes into the second-half

Jordan Atkin hit a strike from distance the goalkeeper did well to hold on to after 52 minutes

A minute later Atkin was denied a goal when the referee judged her to have used her hands when bundling the ball home from close-range

A header flew just wide of the far post after a mix-up in the Kidderminster penalty-area after 56 minutes

Within 60 seconds Sutton had another chance, when a long-range effort from Farquharson was held by the goalkeeper

Handy hit a shot over the crossbar just before the hour-mark as Sutton kept up the pressure

A good save by the Kidderminster goalkeeper kept out Atkin after 65 minutes, with the rebound being volleyed wide by Handy

Freya Smith hit the crossbar from distance 2 minutes later

A corner was headed over by captain Ruth Graham with 68 minutes played

From the resulting goal-kick, Atkin picked up the ball and went on a run that finished with a shot that forced a near-post save and earned the Royals another corner-kick

The pressure finally told when Graham headed the resulting corner into the net to put Sutton 1-0 up

After 75 minutes is was 2-0, when a long-range effort from Smith flew into the top-corner

2 minutes from time a clever turn and strike from just outside the penalty-area flashed just over McElroy’s goal

Smith had a chance to make it 3-0 a minute later but saw her shot clear the crossbar

McElroy made a great save in stoppage-time to preserve her clean-sheet, diving across her goal to push away a header from a corner

Deep into stoppage-time another strike from distance was well held by McElroy

FT - 2-0
