Royals return to winning ways

Following last week’s draw at Lye, Sutton got back on track with a big victory at Redditch United

A goalmouth scramble almost saw the lead doubled 10 minutes later, but eventually the ball ended up going wide of the Redditch goal

A minute later a header by Atkin went wide of the target

Another chance for Atkin from a very wide angle found the side-netting after 20 minutes

Midway through the half, a shot from just outside the area from Chloe Handy was comfortably dealt with by the Redditch goalkeeper

Freya Smith saw a long-range effort hit the crossbar on 28 minutes, with the rebound being fired wide by Lightfoot

Captain Ruth Graham hit a shot from distance straight into the keeper’s grasp a minute later

Just past the half-hour mark, injury forced Lightfoot off

Atkin made it 2-0 on 34 minutes with a shot from the edge of the penalty-area

A free-kick from Graham was headed wide by Sarah Lampitt after 36 minutes

5 minutes prior to half-time, a free-kick on the edge of the Sutton area was comfortably held by Lottie McElroy

After 44 minutes a loose-ball following a corner was struck at goal by Smith, but the shot was straight at the keeper who dealt with it well

A long-range effort was comfortably dealt with by McElroy in first-half stoppage-time

Before the half-time whistle blew, Atkin was inches away from completing her hat-trick with a shot that went just wide of the far-post

HT - 2-0

5 minutes into the second-half it was 3-0, when Charlotte Worth powerfully headed home from a corner played in by Handy

Atkin had another effort from the edge of the penalty-area that flew just over the bar 2 minutes later

Graham made it 4-0 from the penalty-spot on 57 minutes, after Chloe Finn was brought down

Smith had a long-range effort that was off-target a minute later

Brittany Civil had an effort on the turn after 63 minutes, however the effort went wide of the post

Atkin saw another effort from outside the penalty-area go wide with 20 minutes remaining

2 minutes later yet another effort by Atkin was held by the keeper

Civil saw a powerful shot come back off the crossbar with 78 minutes played

Finn had an effort from long-range that caused the keeper problems 10 minutes from the end

After 82 minutes, a free-kick from Chloe Handy went over the crossbar

With four minutes to play, an effort from the edge of the penalty-area flew wide of McElroy’s goal

Poppy Deakin scored her first goal for the Royals to make it 5-0 in the 90th minute, after being played through by Handy
