For the first time in the club's history, Sutton made it through to the Second Round Proper of the FA Women's Cup after coming out on top against Leafield Athletic
Sutton almost opened the scoring in the opening minute when a shot was blazed over the bar after good work from Jordan Atkin out wide
A good save at her near-post by the Leafield keeper after 3 minutes prevented Sutton from breaking the deadlock, as the hosts made a strong start
Another save from point-blank range denied Chloe Finn the opening goal on 22 minutes
A minute later Ruth Graham forced yet another save from close range, this one needing a defender to clear the loose ball off the line
Unfortunately injury forced Chloe Finn off on the half-hour mark
Leafield's first real chance came on 35 minutes, however the striker didn't catch the ball right and Lottie McElroy made a comfortable save
On 40 minutes Sutton took the lead when Ruth Graham converted a penalty for a foul on Jordan Atkin following good work from Brittany Civil out wide
A short backpass almost gifted Leafield the equaliser straight away, however Lottie McElroy was on her toes and alert to the danger

On 50 minutes Brittany Civil went round the goalkeeper after latching onto a loose backpass, but was unable to turn the ball into the net before losing balance
After a comparatively quiet spell of no real chances, a Leafield free-kick was headed in to level the game at 1-1 on 76 minutes
On 86 minutes Charlotte Cresswell was forced off with injury following a poor challenge, allowing Felicity Winters to come on for her debut
Deep into stoppage-time a chance at the back-post very nearly saw Leafield edge in front, however the striker was unable to connect properly to the cross and the ball drifted behind for a goal-kick

Leafield had the only real chance of the first period of Extra-Time when after 98 minutes a shot found the side-netting from a very wide angle

After 110 minutes a save from Lottie McElroy almost dropped back under the crossbar, but instead landed on the roof of the net
After 119 minutes a powerful strike from just outside the box very nearly won the tie for Leafield, but instead sailed over the crossbar
FT ET - 1-1
Despite Sutton being 3-1 up after 3 penalties each, Leafield came back to force sudden-death in the penalty-shootout
The Royals eventually triumphed 6-5 in the shootout, with Lottie McElroy saving the decisive kick and being buried under the celebrations seconds later!
