Sutton's record-breaking run in the FA Women's Cup finally came to an end with defeat at Norwich
Despite the early start, a large following made the long journey to support the Royals on the historic occasion
Sutton thought they had taken the lead on 15 minutes when a free-kick into the box dropped to Jordan Atkin, whose clinical finish was ruled out for offside
However a minute later the Royals did go in front, when Brittany Civil was played in and tucked the ball past the advancing keeper
Sutton were the better team apart from the final 10 minutes of the half, where Norwich started to apply some pressure without creating any real chances
HT - 1-0
Jordan Atkin latched onto a poor clearance and tested the Norwich goalkeeper on 49 minutes but the shot was well held
A minute later Chloe Handy's header was brilliantly blocked on the line by a Norwich defender following a corner
Norwich equalised just past the hour-mark when a shot was blocked at close range by Lottie McElroy, but the looping-ball dropped into the top-corner of the net
On 65 minutes a header at the back post by the Norwich attacker went just the wrong side of the post and into the side-netting
Sutton retook the lead on 68 minutes when a ball into the box dropped at the feet at Brittany Civil, who found the net for her second goal of the game
Norwich were almost level straight away when a long-ball was lifted over Lottie McElroy, but the ball also cleared the crossbar
On 86 minutes Norwich equalised with a penalty awarded for what looked an extremely harsh handball
Another penalty was awarded to the home side 2 minutes into stoppage-time which saw Norwich take the lead for the first time
Despite pushing for the remainder of stoppage-time, Sutton were unable to find an equaliser and force Extra-Time
FT - 2-3
Finally the FA Cup run comes to an end, but the Royals can hold their heads high after a fantastic display in which they gave everything
Player-of-the-Match was Brittany Civil, who scored twice and gave the Norwich defenders a torrid time for the whole game
The support was once again tremendous and a huge thank-you must go out to everyone who got up so early to come along on the day
This was the first time ever Sutton were represented in the Second Round Proper of a senior FA Cup competition, which is a truly unique piece of club history for this team
