Sutton Coldfield Town Royals suffered their first home league defeat of the season against top of the table Telford in challenging conditions, with heavy rain and a snow covered pitch
Although Telford had more of the ball and chances in the first half, The Royals competed well matching their unbeaten opponents with hard work and organisation and some first class saves from stand in keeper Jodie Mason. A single goal from Telford separated the teams at half time
The second half continued in the same way with Telford pressing and Sutton holding steady, a further goal after 51 minutes extending Telford’s lead
Sutton pushed forward looking for a breakthrough with Williams and Mason going close but were undone by three late goals as the game opened up and cold legs and bodies started to take hold
There were excellent performances from Hamid and Ayre in midfield and Thompson at right back
