Sutton bowed out of the League Cup at the Semi-Final stage losing a tight encounter to a young Bedworth side
Bedworth started brightly, passing the ball well but Sutton held good shape and restricted the home side to few chances and Cresswell in goal was largely untroubled
Sutton eased there way back into the game and had a strong spell in the middle of the half but suffered a setback when Whitehouse was carried off with a serious knee injury
Sutton soldiered on until half-time and the score remained goalless
Bedworth started the second-half brightly and pegged Sutton back
It became a rear-guard action and the defence was eventually breached when the team switched off at a free-kick and Bedworth tapped home on 65 minutes
It was soon 2-0 when a long strike hit the top corner
Sutton fought on and created some chances to reduce the arrears, but it wasn’t to be their day
