Sutton again succumbed to a defeat in a game in which they were more than a match for Shrewsbury and arguably should have won
Playing with a more direct style of play, the Royals were lively and aggressive for most of the first-half and had the majority of the chances
Jodie Barber hit the crossbar and the ever lively Jackson-Coley was a constant threat with several strikes on goal
The Shrewsbury keeper was solid with good hands and kept Sutton at bay whilst Jones in the Sutton goal was largely untroubled with Shrewsbury restricted to long-range efforts
The second-half started much the same and it seemed only a matter of time before Sutton would breach the Shrewsbury defence, with Bloor going close with a direct free-kick and a series of corners pressing the visitors back
Unfortunately a familiar tale unfolded when a weak free-kick from the edge of the box evaded everybody in the box to nestle in the corner
A further soft goal immediately after gave the visitors a comfortable lead
As Sutton pushed to get back in the game, a break from Shrewsbury finished the game off
This was by far Sutton's best performance of the season and it is disappointing that the ladies saw no rewards for their efforts, but can take heart from the continuous improvement being shown in the first season at regional level for most of the players
Great performances all round with Ellie Hussey Player-of-the-Match with a fine display at right-back
