It’s been a difficult week for Sutton after 2 defeats on the bounce in the league. Attentions can now be turned to cup action against Kidsgrove Athletic.

Kidsgrove Athletic FC are based in Staffordshire and are nicknamed The Grove. They play their home games at Hollinwood Road.

They were formed in 1952 and like Sutton, play in blue and white at home, but at Coles Lane we will see them in their green and white stripes.

Kidsgrove’s most recent achievements include being the Staffordshire Senior Cup winners in 2012, Mid Cheshire League Cup winners in 1986, and North West Counties league champions in 2001-2002.

Kidsgrove Athletic are currently in first place in the Northern Premier league Division 1 West, with 2 wins scoring 10 goals in the 2 games. They arrived into this round of the cup by beating Lye Town 2-1 after a 0-0 first tie.
The last time we both met met was in the league, winning 5-3 at home in the 2020 season, and we also beat them 1-0 earlier that year in the away fixture.

Saturday’s game was a disappointing one. To lose in the manor we did was a bitter pill to swallow. But, we have to put that to bed now, and with fixtures coming thick and fast, the F.A cup will be the perfect opportunity to get things back on track.
