After a good win at home against Rugby to start the Christmas period off with a bang, it’s now time to turn our attentions to a local derby against neighbours Boldmere St Michaels.
Boldmere have had a similar start to the campaign as Sutton have, with 8 wins from 19 games in the league, and currently sit in 10th spot. They have secured wins against Corby and Lye in recent weeks, so are definitely capable of beating anyone in this league.
Sutton have 9 wins in 20 games, and sit just above in 8th spot. Only losing once in 13 games.
Boldmere St Michaels are a football club based in Boldmere. They play at Trevor Brown Memorial ground, a ground which was named after their former chairman. The ground currently has a capacity of 2500 of which 230 are seated. They are nicknamed the Mikes and were founded in 1883 as a youth football team attached to the local church bible class. They played other local church teams in friendlies until 1912, when they entered their first football league.
They play in home shirts of white and black with black shorts and black and white socks.
We played Boldmere earlier in the season in the FA Trophy losing 2-0 on the day. The last time these two sides met at Boldmere in the league, we lost 3-0. In fact, Sutton have struggled against Boldmere for some time, so a positive result is long overdue.
Both sides are very similar on paper, but in a one-off game we all know that means nothing.
Sutton will need to bring their A game to beat this very successful outfit. Can Sutton do it or will it be a similar story? One thing’s for sure, they will need the backing of the Ultras to get to the points in the bag.
So come on down and cheer the lads on to success over our neighbours.
