It’s a season curtain raiser in the FA cup, and this time it’s at home against Wolverhampton Casuals. Last season, The Royals departed at this very round to local rivals Romulus; so, this season it will be a must for Sutton to advance to at least the next stage.
Wolverhampton Casuals are a team based in Featherstone near Wolverhampton. Established in 1899, they are members of the Midland League Premier Division. They play their home games at Brinsford Lane, and are nicknamed the Cassies. They play in green at home, and orange and black away.
Recent honours include the Walsall Senior Cup in 2000/01 season, and runners up in the 16/17 season in the premier division.
Wolverhampton Casuals have had a good pre-season, notably beating Chasetown 3-2. They have recently secured the signing of Sutton old boy Benni Wilson who will playing up front; let’s hope he does not come back to haunt The Royals.
Sutton have played 9 games in pre-season winning 6 drawing 1 and loosing 2. They scored a total of 20 goals and conceded 11. This looks positive indeed for going forward into the new season.
The Royals, as ever, need your support to help with a successful season both on and off the pitch. We look forward to welcoming you down at Coles Lane for the start of what we hope will be a successful FA Cup campaign.
