Rushall 3 Sutton 2

This was already the 2nd meeting between these two teams this season and Rushall gained revenge for their defeat in the Challenge Bowl at Coles Lane a month ago.

A one sided first half saw Rushall race into a 3-0 lead by half time and although two of the goals were down to individual errors by Sutton, there is no denying that Rushall were good value for their lead, having been the far superior team for 45 minutes.

Sutton regained some pride after the break and staged a spirited comeback. Callum Beet reduced the deficit with a fierce shot that took a slight deflection and ten minutes later Sam Yankson broke clear and fired into the roof of the net. Sutton were on top for most of the 2nd half but were unable to find an equaliser. Rushall still had their moments and Liam Doyle did well to save bravely at the feet of the Rushall striker when he was through on goal.

The classic 'game of two halves' although Rushall deserved the points overall based on the quality of their play in the first half.

Next week we are at home to Stourport Swifts in the league, kick off is 10am at Coles Lane.
