Sphinx put up a solid resistance to Sutton's possession game and worked some opportunities from distance
Sutton took the lead on 41 minutes with a well taken goal by skipper Ruth Graham but after the break Sphinx drew level with a shot from distance which should have been dealt with
Further opportunities were created by Laura Fryer, Cheyanne Jarvis and Ruth Graham but it took until the 85th minute when Laura Fryer got the winner for Sutton to put them into the quarter-finals of the cup
There were also solid debuts from Georgia Whitehouse and Imogen Fisher
Player-of-the-match was Sarah Lampitt who was outstanding in midfield for Sutton
