The Senior Challenge Cup is the most prestigious competition hosted by Birmingham County football Association. The competition is over 100 years old and has professional clubs such as Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion, and Wolverhampton Wanderers enter. The competition is for all clubs that are at or above step 5 in the national league system. The competition has been dropped the last few seasons due to the pandemic and the current holders are Leamington FC winning in 2019.

It's been a rough couple of weeks in the history of Sutton Coldfield Football Club, both on and off the pitch. But as always, the cup provides a welcome distraction, with a great opportunity for some fringe players to prove their worth to any potential new management team.
Next up is Nuneaton Borough who Sutton last played in the 2008/09 season losing 1-2 at home.

Nuneaton Borough play in the Southern Premier Division Central. Founded in 1889, they play at the Liberty Way Ground. Borough normally wear blue and white stripes at home but as they are playing away on Tuesday night, they will be donning an all-red strip. Their fans often refer to the team as ‘The Boro’

Nuneaton first won the Birmingham Senior Cup in 1931. and have since won it nine more times most recently in 2010.

Nuneaton have had a difficult start in the league only winning 4 games out of 17, leaving them in 14th spot only 1 point above the relegation zone. Defensively, they concede goals and have one of the poorer records in the division. On the flip side, they also can score a goal or two and have a good record which belies their league position.

In the last round Sutton blew Birmingham City away. It proved to be an excellent night of football and we would welcome another night like that, and of course, to progress in a tournament that has been elusive since Sutton last won it in 2010.

Nuneaton secured a previous round win against Racing Club Warwick to set up this next round match with The Royals.

It is sure to be a competitive game, and so far the cup games we have had on Tuesday night have been excellent. Obviously, we see this as being no different, so please come and support the team, they need you more than ever.
