This Saturday, The Royals make the short trip to South Derby to take on Gresley Rovers. This game comes on the back of two fantastic cup triumphs and an emphatic win in the league against Bedworth Utd. Stringer’s men will feel that the momentum is now with them; they look a settled unit, all of the players are working well for each other, and they have an attacking mindset.
Gresley Rovers Football Club are an English Club from Church Gresley in South Derbyshire and is a member of the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands. They play at the Moat ground and are nicknamed The Moatmen. They were originally formed in 1882 and have a stadium capacity of 2,400. Their home colours are red and white and play in blue and white away from home.
Gresley’s recent honours include becoming the Southern League Premier Champions in 96/97, FA Vase runners up in 90/91 and Millennium Cup Champions in 99/00.
Gresley are currently in 19th position in the league with 5 points. This is, after having a difficult start to this campaign and only one win in eight games so far this season.
Sutton are in 11th spot after seven games with 9 points and three wins so far this season.
Last time these two sides met at the Moat ground was in the FA cup in 2019 with Sutton winning 2-1 on the day, and with Gresley being very unlucky not to have beaten Sutton.
On paper and looking at form, Sutton see this as an opportunity to get some more points on the board. But as with previous encounters against Gresley, they certainly won’t be giving up without a fight.
Good luck to the lads and hope to see you at the Moat ground for what promises to be a very entertaining game.
