It’s been a fantastic week for Sutton having won at home last Saturday in the league, and then beating Leamington midweek to go through to the 3rd round of the Birmingham Senior cup. This Saturday, the Royals travel to Leicestershire to take on Shepshed Dynamo hoping to extend their unbeaten run.
Shepshed are currently in 14th spot having had 5 wins so far this season, then a fantastic result against Coleshill last Saturday where we won 2-0. Sutton however, sit in 11th place on 21 points with seven wins so far and are on a good run with 4 wins out of their last 5 games.
Shepshed Dynamo are based in the small town of Shepshed in Leicestershire. They were founded in 1994 after reforming under this new name due to financial difficulties; their previous name was Shepshed Charterhouse. They are nicknamed The Dynamo and play at the Dovecote stadium.
They play in black and white striped shirts at home and yellow away, Martin O’Neill used to manage them back in the late 80s before he moved to Leicester City.
The last time Sutton played Shepshed at The Dovecote was in the 21/22 season drawing that game 4-4. While a draw wouldn’t be a bad result, it would certainly feel like 2 points dropped for Sutton who are flying high at present.
Looking at these two sides head-to-head over the last 5 meetings, there have been two draws and three wins for Sutton, so our record is pretty good against Shepshed. Hopefully it will continue this Saturday.
Let’s get behind the team, and hope Sutton can get enough points to get them into the top half of the table.
