Sutton meet Spalding Utd at Coles Lane this Saturday for their 18th league game of the season. They will be keen to show a much improved performance from the lack lustre display against Shepshed previously.
Spalding are based in Lincolnshire and were formed in 1921. They are nicknamed the Tulips and play at the Sir Halley Stewart Field. Their honours include United Counties League Premier Division Champions in season 13-14, and League Cup winners in 94-95.
Spalding have had an amazing season so far, and remain unbeaten in 17 games having won a total of 11. They sit in second place on 39 points, compared to Sutton in 12th place on 21 points.
Spalding’s key to success has been their defence, which is the best in the league having only conceded 12 goals all season. Ironically, this has been Sutton’s main problem, having conceded 32 goals so far.
The last time Sutton played Spalding at Coles Lane it was 1-1 draw. Looking at the last five games these two sides have met, we have had three draws and two losses. With the way Spalding are playing this season, it will take a performance like the one away to Stamford to get anything from the game.
Sutton have had really good performances against some of the higher placed teams already this season, so you would not bet against them causing am upset against Spalding on Saturday.
Will they be able to turn things around this Saturday?
Here’s to an entertaining and successful game.
COME ON YOU ROYALS.
