Our 11 match unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of local side Walsall Wood last Saturday. It’s now time to pick ourselves back up and start another run against a side struggling in this league in the form of Rugby.
Sutton, despite the loss, are still in 8th position. But we are now 6 points off the play-offs, so a win is vital on Saturday if Sutton are going to remain in contention.
Rugby are in 19th position on 13 points, 3 of which were courtesy of our opening day defeat to them.
Rugby FC are based in Warwickshire and are nicknamed The Valley. They were founded in 1956 and play at Butlin Road. They were promoted into Sutton’s league from the United Counties league finishing 2nd in that league last season.
They play in blue and white but will be wearing red and black at Coles Lane.
They won the FA Vase in 1982-83, and the Birmingham Senior cup in 91-92. More recently, they won the Midland Floodlit cup in the 98-99 season.
Sutton never really recovered from the opening defeat, and it took a new manager in the form of Cameron Stuart to turn things around, so hopefully Rugby don’t come back to haunt us this weekend.
A big weekend for The Royals and they will need your support hope to see you there.
