Sutton have had a poor start to this season, a good mid- season where we ended up pushing for the play-offs, and have since fallen away in the last few games. Goals have been an issue but 2 last Saturday was a big improvement.
Unfortunately, Loughborough were just too strong for us in the end. It’s now 7 games without a win, and Bedworth will be a difficult task, even at home. A win is vital to stop us sliding down the table, and a loss would mean they leapfrog us in the table. On a positive note, it was Sutton’s win against Bedworth that started their ten game unbeaten run. Same again please lads.
Sutton are now in 11th place in the table on 36 points. Bedworth are in 13th place on 34 points; however, they have played 2 games more.
Bedworth United are based in Bedworth, Warwickshire and play at the Oval Ground.
They were founded in 1895 and are nicknamed The Greenbacks and not surprisingly, play in an all-green strip.
Originally, they were known as Bedworth Town and were founder members of the Nuneaton and District league.
Bedworth won the Birmingham Senior in 1981/82 and the Midland Floodlit Cup in 1992/93. The last time they were champions in any league was in 1949/50 season when they won the Birmingham Combination League.
The last time The Royals played the Greenbacks was earlier in the season, and they won 1-0 away, and 4-0 at home last time at Coles Lane.
Bedworth should not be underestimated, as a great win last time out against high flying Spalding will give them huge confidence coming into this game.
Sutton will be hoping for another good performance like the one on Saturday. But most of all, they will be looking to get a result to match, to get some momentum, and string some positive results together.
Fingers crossed the run of the green is with Sutton.
