After a difficult win over Gresley last weekend it’s another away trip to near neighbours Coventry Sphinx. The Royals will be looking for a 3rd away win in a row, but will face a tough test against a side in good sprits after taking all three points from Loughborough last time out.
Coventry Sphinx are based in Coventry and play at Sphinx Drive. Nicknamed The Sphinx, they were formed in 1946 and play in blue and white stripes at home, and yellow and blue stripes away.
They were united Counties League Premier Division South champions in 22/23 season, league cup winners in 2009/10 season and Premier Division champions in 06/07 season.
Coventry Sphinx have had a difficult season. Having played 31 games and obtaining 30 points, they are nine points off the bottom two places in 16th position. Sphinx are unbeaten in their last two, winning last Saturday against high flying Loughborough Dynamo. Scoring is an issue for them with only 33 goals in those games and -21 goal difference, shows they are conceding more than they can score.
Sutton’s win on Saturday took them into 8th spot, but still a good way of the play off places.
Both teams will be looking for a win for very different reasons. Last time out Sutton were 4-1 victors, but Sphinx will be boosted by the victory against Loughborough last time out. Sutton will need to be at their best to make it 4 wins on the bounce.
