This evening we visit our Division 1 Central opponents Welwyn Garden City FC in the re-arranged fixture from late last year.
Welwyn were founded in 1921 shortly after the first house to be built was completed. Welwyn Garden City FC have a nickname of The Citizens and play at the BP Mitchell Stadium, in Herns Lane, Hertfordshire. The stadium holds 2500 supporters, and The Citizens play on a grass pitch of 109 x 72 yards.
Welwyn City Garden FC play in a home kit of a claret and sky-blue shirt, claret shorts and sky-blue socks. The away kit is a yellow shirt, black shorts and black socks and the goalkeeper wears the same colours.
Sutton had an amazing game on Saturday in a real battle with Corby and only just missed out on three points, so they will be hoping to get back on the winning trail again. Having won their last two away games, I see no reason why they can’t get another here tonight.
Welwyn are in a difficult period at present having lost their manager and a large part of the team in the last week, so they will be fielding an unknown team tonight. Having not won in the last six games, tonight will be a tough game for them, so let’s hope Sutton can capitalize tonight.
But…. as we all know… football’s a funny old game.
We would all like to wish Welwyn Garden City Football Club all the best for the future and hope that they can put their recent troubles behind them.
Let’s hope for another great game tonight.
