Well after Christmas, we will be served up a treat at Coles Lane. On Boxing Day we have a visit from our local friends Chasetown FC.
We have had some nice pre-Christmas results, with our superb win against Stocksbridge, and the hard-fought draw against Spalding.
Sutton are now up to 15th and Chasetown are not far behind in 17th place and with two points less. Chasetown have struggled in recent weeks, having only had two wins in their last ten games, so Sutton will be looking to take advantage of this loss in form of late.
Chasetown are based in Burntwood, Staffordshire and are nicknamed the Scholars having been formed by affiliates of nearby Chase Terrace high school.
They were formed in 1954 and play at The Scholars Ground. Chasetown gained national recognition when in 2005 their first round F.A cup tie against Oldbury was televised. The result was 1-1 on the day, and they finished the season as champions of the Midland Alliance league.
In 2007-08 FA cup they reached the third round proper, and eventually lost 3-1 to Cardiff City who went on to win it that year. Chasetown still hold the record of the lowest ever ranked team to reach the third round.
The last time we played Chasetown was in the 14-15 season, where we only managed a draw. Sutton will be hoping for more this time round given the current form of these two teams.
Time to burn off that turkey and get down to Coles Lane to show your support for the lads, they are on the up and need your support to push them further up the table.
Come on you Royals.
