This weekend the Royals travel to Shropshire to face Market Drayton in their first meeting this season. Last season’s fixture was won 6-0 by Sutton so they will fancy their chances again this season, especially as they have won their last two league games, scoring nine goals in the process. Market Drayton on the other hand have lost all seven league fixtures, results that have seen them rooted firmly to the bottom of the league. The team have conceded 28 goals and only scored 2, so The Royals would be kicking themselves if they don’t come back with three points. But, as we all know, football has a habit of delivering the strange result, and Sutton don’t want to become this statistic.
Market Drayton Town are based in Market Drayton in Shropshire and play at the Greenfields Sports Ground. They were founded in 1969 and were called Little Drayton Rangers. They are nicknamed The Gingerbread Men and play in a home kit of red shirt with black trim, red shorts and red socks. Their away kit is a blue shirt with a black trim, and blue shorts and socks.
They were Premier Division champions in 2005-06, and last won the Shropshire Premier Cup in 2015-16.
Saturday should be a cracker, and a game with plenty to talk about.
Please come and support the lads as they carry on building the team which has already grown so much in recent weeks.
Thank you for your continued support
Come on you Royals.
