This bank holiday we welcome local rivals Coleshill Town to Coles Lane in this Northern Premier League fixture. Coleshill Town are from Coleshill in Warwickshire and were founded in 1894, although first ever recorded game was in November 1885 against Acocks Green. They were awarded a certificate by the FA in 1994 for recognition of 100 years in the Football Association although matches prior to this were either friendly or challenge matches.
Coleshill Town FC play at the Pack Meadow Stadium in Coleshill, a stadium which holds 2070 supporters. Coleshill have had a few nicknames in the past but the most recent is ‘The Colemen’ or ‘The Colts'. Their home kit is a white and blue shirt, blue shorts and blue socks, and their away kit is all red, red shirt, shorts and socks.
Coleshill have made an absolutely cracking start to their campaign beating Wisbech, Cambridge, and Sporting Khalsa in their opening three league games, and progressed to the next round of the Cup after knocking out Highgate United. On Saturday they succumbed to their first defeat of the season losing 3-0 to Stamford, they now sit fourth in the league four places above The Royals.
Sutton are progressing nicely remaining unbeaten in their four league games so far. They remain in the top half of the table after an exciting 1-1 draw away to Histon.
The last time these two teams met competitively was in the 18/19 season where Sutton lost both matches 1-0 and 2-1.
Sutton will be hoping for better results this time round, but with Coleshill Town in this kind of form the Royals know this fixture will be tough.
Please let’s get as many fans down to Coles Lane as possible and cheers the lads onto three points.
COME ON YOU ROYALS.
