It was nice to get a first away win last time out against bottom of the table strugglers Soham; but after a Christmas break it’s time to get back to it with a difficult home match against local rivals Halesowen.
This will be a tough game for Sutton, as we lost the last time we played them earlier in the season. We lost 3-0 away in the F.A cup.
This time round, both sides have seen many changes, so it will be a different entity for both sides.
Halesowen Town were founded in 1873 and are nicknamed the Yeltz. They currently play at The Grove and wear a home strip of blue and white.
Halesowen Town’s recent honours include being the Division one south champions in 2013/14, and Worcestershire Senior cup winners in 03/04. They also had an amazing run in the F.A Trophy in the 19/20 season reaching the Semi-Finals.
Halesowen had led the table for most of the season, but have fallen down in recent weeks. They currently reside in fourth place on 42 points having won 13 of their 19 games so far this season.
Sutton have had a much tougher run in their 19 games so far having won only 3 games, so it would seem a bit like David taking on Goliath for this afternoon’s game, but then we all know how that can end up; and in football, you just never know.
Hope to see as many of you as can make it to support the lads.
